What is the Careers Accelerator
Careers Accelerator is a suite of opportunities and experiences available to all UNSW Business School students. Each is carefully designed to help build students’ professional skills in a way that complements their studies with their professional goals and interests. Opportunities and experiences available include internships, mentoring programs, industry networking events, global opportunities, and access to academic support.
Steps to get Started
- Complete the Career Accelerator: Essentials Modules
- The best place to start your career journey is with Career Accelerator: Essentials (COMM6000). This series of online modules will help develop your career skills and unlock access to mentoring programs, networking events and work experience opportunities.
- Get to know the student community
- Connect with your cohort and members of your learning community to take your UNSW Business School student experience to the next level. Tap into Career Accelerator’s online groups to form study groups, exchange resources and chat with other students.
- Connect with the industry
- Career Accelerator also connects Business School and AGSM students to the industry through long term relationships with industry partnerships. You can have the chance to tap into these connections through attending workshops, panel discussions or internships.
- Utilise career resources
- Career Accelerator also has an abundance of free resources to get you career ready, and upskill yourself so you can land your dream job. Stand out from the crowd through completing an Excel certification course and get help from an AI powered Resume Checker and LinkedIn Booster.
Course Experience
The opportunities below are some of the ways Career Accelerator can help you build your professional skills and enhance your employability while you study.
- Internships
- Industry Experience Program (COMM2222): This is a unique, for-credit opportunity that combines practical work experience with academic workshops and assessment tasks. COMM2222 is a unique model that allows students to gain recognition for either a UNSW sourced or self-sourced internship. Link
- Industry Consulting Project (COMM2233): This course offers an invaluable opportunity to put your university learnings into practice and help solve real-life business problems that have an impact. Students get the chance to work in small consulting teams and conduct company visits, attend workshops and mentoring sessions to develop their business acumen and skills. Link
- Global Experiences
- Global Business Practicum (COMM3020): This for-credit course takes students overseas with a small consulting team to address genuine business issues faced by a UNSW industry partner. In between academic sessions, students will get the chance to immerse themselves in the local culture and experiences. Link
- Future of Work Project (COMM2244): This is an online practicum that will allow students to develop and apply their skills, capabilities and knowledge of future workplaces. A lecturer provides guidance to a small consulting team and assists them in providing a recommendation to the prospective client. Link
