The UNSW Co-op Program offers students an opportunity to engage in authentic client work within a professional setting. Participants work for and receive compensation from prominent sponsors affiliated with UNSW. Exceptional students receive rigorous industry training, access to professional development resources, networking opportunities, and mentoring prior to graduation.
The UNSW Business Society offers a range of flagship events that help students launch their careers.
Careers Fair
Our annual Careers Fair invites students to network with established corporate representatives from companies across a wide range of industries. This is an open floor environment with designated stalls for sponsor companies, allowing students to roam around and learn about opportunities.
High Achievers Evening
This distinguished event offers all students the opportunity to network with respected corporate representatives over a 3-course meal. This is an amazing opportunity to meet other top performers whilst expanding your professional network. An application is required.
Canapés and Cocktails
This event provides students the exclusive opportunity to connect with a wide range of firms in an intimate setting over cocktails & canapés. This is an exciting opportunity to gain first-hand insights into particular firms; including workplace culture, day-to-day responsibilities, in preparation for the recruitment season.
Case Competitions
Case competitions are a popular way for business students to get involved in extracurriculars. This is the perfect opportunity for students to upskill their critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills as they tackle a provided issue in a team setting, competing for cash prizes against other teams.
UNSW students have an exciting opportunity to travel to partner universities worldwide to complete units as part of an exchange program. UNSW may not offer specific courses, so partaking in the student exchange program may be beneficial in light of completing your degree.
Application Process
The application process can be quite lengthy (approx. 9 months) so it is recommended that students begin preparing and researching options a year in advance from their desired start date. Note that students can only choose partner universities of UNSW.
A successful applicant will generally have a credit average WAM with at least 18 UOC left in their degree at the commencement of their exchange. A thorough plan should also be prepared to show what relevant units can be taken at the partner institution.
For more information, students are encouraged to speak to an exchange advisor or conduct their own research on the UNSW website.
Virtual internships provide students with an opportunity to complete work experience from the comfort of their own home. These internships are facilitated by companies like Forage, who offer 5-6 hour project-based courses online for students to experience specific professional roles and hone key skills. Upon completion, participants will be emailed a certification which they can provide to potential recruiters as part of their evidence of work experience. More information can be found on Forage’s website.
